Ask Michelle, # 13
Q. How do I create shortcuts for both CHARTS and VISUAL softwares?
A. For CHARTS:
1. Map network drive:
At Drive: select R:.
At Folder: browse to the appropriate directory, usually SERVERNAME\rhsdata. It should be one level above the rhs folder.
Make sure there is a check in the box next to Reconnect at logon.
Click Finish.
2. Install the wisp configuration registry:
Go to R:\rhs\wisp\bin.
Double-click on wconfig.exe.
When prompted to import the registry, click Yes.
Browse to R:\rhs\wisp and select wisp.reg.
The following screen will appear: (Sometimes it automatically minimizes to taskbar.)

Your data locations should all be filled in properly with your facility’s server name. Nothing (except TEMPDIR) should be highlighted in yellow. Click OK.
**Note: If you are running the new version of WISP and your computer is 64-bit, the WISPCONFIG: should be set to SERVERNAME\rhs\wisp\config64.
If, for whatever reason, the automatic import does not work:
Double-click on wconfig.exe.
When prompted to import the registry, click No.
Fill out the appropriate server name as follows:

Click OK.
Add in \rhs to the path that comes up, as follows:

Click OK, then click OK 2 more times.

3. Make a shortcut:
Go to R:\rhs.
Right-click on rhsnt.bat. Click Send To. Select Desktop (Create Shortcut).
Rename the shortcut on your desktop to CHARTS.
Optional: Right-Click on the shortcut, click properties. Click Change Icon. Browse to R:\rhs. Select RHSLOGOB.ico . Click OK.
Double-click on the CHARTS shortcut.
A message will appear asking to specify the location of the userfile.
Press Esc.
Press F2.
Fill in the screen as follows, substituting DEMO for your FACILITY data directory:

(Note: spoollib will be initialized automatically, you can leave as is.)
Press Enter.
Press F10.
Press F2.
Set Pseudo blank character: 3.
Set Using pseudo blank rendition: N.
Press Enter.
Press F1.
Press shift+F3. (For users connected with Citrix, press ctrl+f, 1, 3.)
Press Enter.
Press F1. This will return you to the userfile error message. Press End.
Double-click the CHARTS shortcut again.
You are now in the CHARTS program.
If the new user sees a message on the bottom of the CHARTS screen that says "Error WS 255: please call RHS" :
Right-click on My Computer.
Click Properties.
Make note of the Full Computer Name.
Now go to r:\rhs\wisp\config.
Open the file wsysconf.cfg (you can choose notepad to open with).
Add the Full Computer Name to this document. Follow the format exactly as in the preceding lines, meaning the spacing and the case. (ws is lowercase, WINDOWS and COMPUTERNAME are uppercase.)
It should look something like this:
#Num
Class Type Name
000 ws WINDOWS NTSERVER1
001 ws WINDOWS ADMISSIONS
Save the file.
Log back in to CHARTS, the error should be gone.
For VISUAL:
Depending on your facility, you may have your data in-house or hosted by RHS.
For in-house servers, go to R:\. You will see a .exe file which begins with rhs and 3 letters of your facility name. So if your facility is called Demo Nursing Home, your file might be called rhsdem.exe. Double-click on the .exe file and the VISUAL shortcut will install on your desktop.
For data hosted by RHS, go to www.reliablehealth.com. Click on Download updates. Log in with your e-mail address and password given to you by RHS, and click the Login button. Select the link to the server hosting your data and it will install the shortcut on your desktop.
