MDS 3.0 FAQs
The following questions and answers are designed
to provide you with additional information.
Q. When MDS 3.0 goes live will I be able to
access my MDS 2.0 assessments?
A. Yes. You will be able to use both MDS 2.0 and
MDS 3.0 simultaneously.
Q. Will there be CHARTS and VISUAL versions of
MDS 3.0?
A. No, there will only be a VISUAL version of
MDS 3.0. All CHARTS users will use VISUAL MDS
3.0.
Q. Will VISUAL MDS 2.0 users need to buy any new
hardware?
A. No.
Q. Will CHARTS users need to buy any new
hardware to access VISUAL MDS 3.0?
A. No, all CHARTS users will access VISUAL MDS
3.0 from an RHS dedicated server. You will need
high speed access to the Internet (i.e., not
dial-up or DSL). The best option is a T1 line
but, in most geographic areas, a cable line is
sufficient.
Q. We heard that the government may use a new
RUGs IV or keep the current RUGs III. How are
you handling this?
A. We completed both RUGs III and IV. The system
will implement the correct one at the right
time.
Q. If I use CHARTS for census will I need to
enter census information into VISUAL as well?
A. No, CHARTS census information flows through
directly to VISUAL MDS 3.0.
Q. When we switch to MDS 3.0 will I be able to
run a schedule that takes MDS 2.0 records into
account.
A. Yes, the ARD dates and assessment types of
MDS 2.0 records are taken into account to
project the completion dates for new MDS 3.0
records.
Q. What do I need to do to license the new MDS
3.0 software?
A. Within the next few weeks you will be
receiving a letter from RHS about licensing the
MDS 3.0 software and further information.
Additional information will be provided as
necessary.
