Dear Client, 

 

To keep you, our client, informed about MDS 3.0 we will be sending a series of "RHS MDS 3.0 Newsletters," of which this is the first.

 

CMS and MDS 3.0
 

At the end of March 2009 CMS announced that the implementation of MDS 3.0 has been delayed until 10/1/2010.


Implementation of MDS 3.0 is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2009.
 
According to CMS the goal of MDS 3.0 is "to introduce advances in assessment measures, increase the clinical relevance of items, improve the accuracy and validity of the tool, and increase the resident's voice by introducing more resident interview items."
 
CMS has announced that final data specifications for MDS 3.0 are expected to be published on March 1, 2009 and that various levels of training will occur from from May through August of 2009.

Reliable Health Systems (RHS) and MDS 3.0
 

Development of the MDS 3.0 software module at RHS is well underway. Following release of the final MDS 3.0 specifications by CMS on 3/1/2009 we will be in a position to complete our MDS 3.0 software.
 
VISUAL Clients: Based on a scheduled to be finalized, we will update the VISUAL web server you access to include the new VISUAL MDS 3.0 module. The "look-and-feel" of MDS 3.0 will be similar to that of VISUAL MDS 2.0 Therefore, once you have an understanding of the new MDS 3.0 form you will, almost immediately, feel comfortable with our MDS 3.0 software module.
 
CHARTS Clients: Clients using our CHARTS MDS 2.0 software will have the opportunity to upgrade to our web-based MDS 3.0 VISUAL software. The hardware required to access the VISUAL MDS 3.0 software from our dedicated server is minimal. You will need only a Windows (XP professional or Vista) PC (Pentium 4, 1.7 GHz or greater) with a 19" or greater monitor, and a high-speed connection to the Internet. You will not be required to purchase an additional server or any other hardware.
 
The CHARTS and VISUAL products are fully integrated so that any required information is entered only once. For example, census information entered into CHARTS automatically flows through to VISUAL MDS 3.0, and VISUAL MDS 3.0 records are automatically available to CHARTS billing and accounts receivable.
 
Implementation: In the following months you will be receiving a letter from RHS about licensing the MDS 3.0 software and further information. We will then schedule implementation and training for your facility.
 
Training: We anticipate that web-based training will be our primary mode of educating our clients about the MDS 3.0 product. This will allow you to attend training sessions from the comfort of your own facility. You will be assigned a web site to which you can logon and a telephone number to call. You will be able to follow the training on your PC and ask questions at the end of each session.
